The idea of organising a trade show at the heart of a French horticultural region was first conceived in 1980. The enthusiasm of the professionals from the Union Horticole Angevine (UHA) led to a project named Salon Anjou Vert in October 1981
In 1985, it becomes the Salon du Végétal, created and organised by the Bureau Horticole Régional (BHR), at the Exhibition Centre of Angers.
